If you or someone you know is facing a difficult time without a secure place to stay, please know that there is a network of caring shelters in the Kansas City area equipped to help.

These places offer more than just a roof over your head: they provide nourishing meals, clothing to keep you comfortable, medical care to attend to your health needs, job training to help pave the way to stability, and case management to ensure you receive comprehensive support tailored to your situation.


These shelters are oases of hope, run by compassionate nonprofit organizations and government agencies, each dedicated to helping in unique ways. We understand that everyone's circumstances are different, and the eligibility for each shelter can vary, but that should not deter you from reaching out.

They provide specialized emergency shelters for men, women, and families separately, as well as extended recovery programs tailored for each group. Additionally, there are engaging after-school and summer initiatives for youth, along with a summer camp designed specifically for children aged 4-16. Furthermore, the community is supported by five thrift stores, contributing to a sustainable support system for those in need.

The Beehive Health and Housing Collaborative also provides housing services and is located at:

This shelter is situated downtown and warmly welcomes individuals irrespective of their race, religion, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Shelter KC accepts new shelter guests from 9 am to noon and 1 pm to 3 pm, every day of the week. If you are seeking information about the Men’s Center recovery program, please reach out at (816) 421-7643. For details about the services provided by the Women’s Center and enrollment and screening processes, please call 816-348-3287.

Emancipation Station offers a safe and comfortable shelter for women who may otherwise be without a home. Our community is dedicated to restoring dignity to women who are facing tough circumstances. We provide access to showers, laundry facilities, clean clothing, and hot meals on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Additionally, we offer assistance to both men and women, including free clothing, help with utility bills, obtaining birth certificates, sack lunches, hygiene supplies, household items, and diapers. We are committed to providing support and essential resources to those in need.
